Blog Journal 4
I have enjoyed my experience with blogging so far. It has been a great way for me to express ideas and share knowledge. I have also enjoyed the creativity and the opportunity to connect with others who share similar interests. Through the blogging process, I have learned the importance of planning content and engaging readers with clear writing.
A Web 2.0 tool I find useful for teaching is Kahoot. Kahoot is an interactive platform that turns learning into a game. Teachers can create quizzes, discussions, and surveys that students answer in real- time, fostering engagement in the classroom. I think Kahoot is useful because it's competitive and fast-paced, so it requires active participation. I have used Kahoot in several of my classes, from middle school to college. It's a fun way to learn the material, and some teachers even hand out treats for the top three scorers.
My initial experiences with Generative AI were exploratory. I tried to use it to generate lesson plans and brainstorm classroom activities. Generative AI works quickly and provides unique and thoughtful ideas, sparking creativity and saving time. However, there have been times when the suggestions didn't fully align with what I needed.
I envision using Generative AI in my teaching practice by using it to help create lesson plans and classroom activities. I also think it could help create fun, engaging resources like quizzes or interactive stories. I would address ethical concerns by being transparent with both students and parents about AI's role in the classroom. I would also address that using AI is just a supportive tool, not a replacement for critical thinking or authentic learning experiences.
Hi! I also have definitely enjoyed my experience with blogging so far, it is nice for me to address my thoughts and feelings about topics regarding my major and topics that may be new and a little bit of a struggle for me! I love that you wrote about Kahoot because, as a student, my favorite days in class were the ones where we played Kahoots for reviews; they are so fun, and I actually end up learning a lot. You mention it included active participation, which is also a great thing because it is so important to engage students in lessons to foster a sufficient learning experience for them. I think being transparent about AI and its role is such a great idea because it takes off the stigma and just lays it out for what it is because students are going to find out and probably utilize it anyway. Promoting it as a helpful tool instead of a replacement for individual and critical thinking is such a great idea as well!
